Introduction to JavaScript

UC A-G: G — Elective

Students begin the Computer Science Pathway by learning the foundations of programming through JavaScript, one of the world’s most widely used languages. Using the CodeHS curriculum, students write real code from day one — building skills in variables, functions, loops, conditionals, and event-driven programming. Projects are hands-on and creative, giving students an immediate sense of what it means to think like a developer. No prior programming experience is required.

INTERMEDIATE

AP Computer Science Principles

UC A-G: D — Laboratory Science

AP Computer Science Principles takes a broad and engaging view of computing and its role in the modern world. Students explore how the internet works, how data is collected and analyzed, how algorithms solve problems, and how digital innovation raises important questions about privacy and society. This College Board AP course includes a through-course performance task and prepares students for the AP exam. A qualifying exam score may earn college credit. Satisfies the UC A-G “D” laboratory science requirement.

ADVANCED

AP Computer Science A

UC A-G: C — Mathematics

AP Computer Science A provides a rigorous introduction to object-oriented programming using Java — the language behind enterprise software and Android development. Students master classes, inheritance, arrays, ArrayLists, searching and sorting algorithms, and algorithm analysis. This College Board AP course prepares students for college-level computer science coursework and technical internships or careers. A qualifying exam score may earn college credit. Satisfies the UC A-G “C” mathematics requirement.

CAPSTONE

AP Cybersecurity

UC A-G: D — Laboratory Science

AP Cybersecurity caps the pathway with one of the fastest-growing and most in-demand fields in technology. Students learn to identify system vulnerabilities, defend networks, analyze threats, and understand the legal and ethical responsibilities that come with protecting digital information. This College Board AP course opens doors to careers in government, healthcare, finance, and technology. A qualifying exam score may earn college credit. Satisfies the UC A-G “D” laboratory science requirement.
